Next
year, Barcelona will become for a few days the world meeting point of the
Ignatian community, after these days of
confinement, reflection and with a special feeling of solidarity we want to
share with you all alumni, teachers, members and friends of the Ignatian
community, a message: “United by values, moved by the future “.
Barcelona
2021 comes as a process of reflection and dialogue around the value and actions
that the Jesuit Alumni we have in front of us. Our common objective is to
revive the potential of our network and to respond to the challenges of today’s
society, inviting everyone to participate, to live reconciliation and jointly
promote the value of union and action among alumni, all over the world and
especially young people.
The X World Union Jesuit Alumni Congress to be held on 14th-18th July 2021 in Barcelona will be part of the acts to commemorate the 5th Centenary of the conversion of Saint Ignatius 500, which will be held in Spain that “Ignatius year 2021-2022”.
On
our behalf, in order to commemorate the 5th Centenary in a meaningful way, we invite
everybody on the dawn of July 13, to precede the Congress with a pilgrimage
from Montserrat to La Cova in Manresa, after a “shared night candle” the previous evening in the
Montserrat basilica and in the church of Casp jesuit Barcelona school. It will
be a moment of encounter with ourselves and with other alumni from all over the
world, to jointly follow the steps of the path that Saint Ignatius traveled
500 years ago.
The following day, Father
General Arturo Sosa, sj will lead us the opening of the Congress showing his reflection on the challenges and actions as alumni
we have to , in the Ignatian framework of Reconciliation and the guidelines of
the Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus. Main challenges
facing society today and elements of aid for our action and its transformation
will be worked on, combining the knowledge and experiences of relevant
speakers, with the debate and interaction of congress participants in
co-creation workshops.

The
problem of migration and the opportunity that arises
The role
of women in society and in the church
Technology
at the service of people
The
potential of religions in reconciliation
Social
innovation as a tool for social transformation

Education, a transforming element of society
The professional environment, a commitment for the action of a shared mission
Social and educational development in the integration of the most vulnerable communities
Collaboration and networking as catalysts for the Jesuit mission
