Ignatian family teach-in for justice 2023

The goal of our collaboration proposal is

In its 26th year the Teach-In is a place for members of the Ignatian family (Jesuit institutions and larger church) to be empowered, re-energized, inspired, challenged, and supported by a community that sees faith and justice integrally linked.

Description of our collaboration proposal

The Teach-In has a rich history rooted in honoring the Jesuits and their companions who were martyred in El Salvador in 1989.

Community is essential to the pursuit of justice. We are not merely fellow workers in these labors, but truly siblings and friends. Realizing our unique goodness and giftedness, we are drawn into a union of minds and hearts. As a community, we must be open to the questions of the Spirit: What are the signs of the times? What does our reality demand? Where are the intersections? How do we use our unique gifts to build a more just world? We here enter into discernment.

We experience the walls and divisions of our world and challenge them with a radical love. Beginning with a listening heart, we recognize the belovedness of each person and the community as a whole. The Spirit impels us to prayer and study that lights the path forward. From there, we take planned, collaborative action to create a world where human dignity is universally upheld. We have deep faith that justice will prevail and that the promise of the boundless and beloved community is possible here on earth.
