From September 28 to 30, 2018, the XLVII Congress of the International Federation of Fe y Alegría will take place in Madrid, Spain.

The objectives of the conference are to become aware of Fe y Alegría as a global movement, to advance in the global responses as a Federation at the borders, to be an inspiring space for the Federation, for each Fe y Alegría and for each person as citizens of this global world.

Under the motto: “Fe y Alegría, global movement. We educate at the borders”, the themes that will be addressed during the Congress will be Borders, Global Movement, and Citizenship; addressing these issues in a comprehensive and interlaced manner during the different spaces of the congress.

The congress will count with three spaces:

The first space will be a youth meeting on Friday, September 28, in which the national directors of all the Fe y Alegría offices will participate, as well as the delegates of the countries, the federation team, five youth representatives from different countries proposed by the initiative of Generation 21 Network and young people from Spain.

This youth meeting aims to generate a privileged moment of dialogue between representatives of Fe y Alegría and young people in the proposed thematic framework in which an act of mobilization will be led by the youth with the participation of different delegations of Fe y Alegría.

The main part of the congress will take place on September 29 and 30 in El Escorial (Madrid), a moment in which we will approach the concept of borders, specially those that challenge us: geographical, gender, and intergenerational frontiers. We will discuss how we are responding from the different Fe y Alegría offices to the new frontiers -including current testimonies of new experiences- and we will delve into the idea of what it means to be a global movement and how to generate global responses.

At the end of the weekend, on October 1, there will be a public event in Madrid at Palacio de Cibeles where the SDG 4 and the relevance of education in the new 2030 agenda will be discussed, as well as the importance of taking into consideration the most vulnerable groups of our societies.
