On September 27, the Jesuit School Network from USA invited Fr. David McCallum, S.J., the Executive Director of the Discerning Leadership Program, to a virtual conversation about synodal leadership and Pope Francis’s vision for a synodal Church.
On the conversation, Fr Mc Callum emphasizes that Synodality is about the horizontal dimension of the Church and its relationship with the hierarchy. On his words “Synodality is about to foster an integration of the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the church, Synodality is a process of involving people and listening to people and answering, green spaces where there is a space to listen to vulnerable people, and hoping that in that exchange we will find ways to bring about reconciliation and restoration.”
Fr. Mc Callum clearly highlights that the question for Synodality is how do we help people to work more collaboratively, we certainly need a better collaboration across apostolates and mission. The Discerning Leadership Program is one of the tools how the Society of Jesus is helping to this process.
