European campaign as a tribute to all people fleeing the horror of war and violence, who must walk to save their lives.
The Walking for Peace initiative has its origins in the legacy left to us by Father Frans Van der Lugt, a Jesuit who died in the siege of Homs in 2014, after nearly 50 years living in Syria, where he had founded a farm and community center on the outskirts of the city.
This time our paths will be in solidarity with the more than 10 million people who have been forced to flee Ukraine since war broke out in February 2022. The future is only possible if we generate a culture of hospitality, solidarity and inclusion based on Peace.
On June 17 we will celebrate a joint action at European level in solidarity with refugees.
