A Guided Meditation for Ignatius’ Feast Day

The goal of our collaboration proposal is

In honor of this Saint Ignatius' feast, the Jesuit Conference of Canada and USA invite us to journey with St. Ignatius and stand before Our Lady of Montserrat in this guided meditation.

Description of our collaboration proposal

Eric Clayton, Senior Communications Manager at JCCU shares his memories of when he visited the abbey at Montserrat as a college student. He had no idea the significance it held in the story of St. Ignatius. He was studying abroad in Spain, and he went his his friends to mountaintop day trip from Barcelona. The abbey and its treasures were an added bonus. As a result, He has few distinct memories from that trip: the cable car dangling above the trees as we slowly rose to the summit; the quiet stillness within the basilica despite the hordes of tourists scampering about the mountain; and the statue of the Black Madonna, Our Lady of Montserrat, presiding over the proceedings.
As he said: "And yet, I distinctly remember sharing with my then-girlfriend and now-wife how that sacred space at Montserrat had felt different. The Holy Spirit was in our midst, the air pulsating with grace. As I think back on it now, I wish I had captured more of that moment – photos, a few words in a journal, just some way to separate fact from legend in my own memory."
