This year, on the 400th anniversary of the canonisation of Saint Ignatius, we are seeking to celebrate Lent together. From the Jesuit Network we offer you several proposals, both face-to-face and online, so that you can live these forty days. If you know of any other proposal from Jesuit organisations or networks, don’t forget to share it with us.
Daily/weekly resources
The Jesuit Refugee Service proposes a series of reflections to be carried out every Sunday of Lent with the aim of fighting against the barriers that nationalism and individualism impose on the human family. You can find more information in this document.
During this Lent, the Laudato Si’ Movement proposes prayers to reflect on various themes. It also invites people to commit themselves to fasting between proposals such as unnecessary purchases or electricity, and to participate every Friday in an Ecological Way of the Cross.
The Laudato Si’ Movement also offers a Monthly Prayer Guide for Lent on a journey of ecological conversion, reflection and renewal.
The Ignatian Solidarity Network, through daily reflections, seeks to orient our actions towards God onto justice in the face of our frustration with the reality of the world. This year’s Lent initiative is called Harden Not Your Hearts: a Lenten Journey in Holy Frustration.
Retreats
Educate MAGIS is holding a Global Lent Retreat from the 28th to the 31st of March under the title “Beloved – Sinner – Forgiven – Sent”, consisting of four sessions to reflect on the way of Jesus and become messengers of peace and reconciliation. You can find more information on our collaboration hub.
The Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific offers a virtual pilgrimage during Lent every Wednesday to prepare Jesus’ way to the cross. The first episode is available here.
To listen
The Society of Jesus, through its website Faith Dimensions, proposes in its Music for Lent initiative songs to listen to and reflect on in order to draw closer to the kingdom of God.
Pray as you Go proposes to reflect through daily audios during Lent.
Ignatian Young Adult Ministries, through Jesuit Connections and Charis Ministries, have created reflections and conversations in audio format and invite young adults to spaces of introspection and prayer each week.
