Description of our collaboration proposal

The International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU) is holding its Worldwide Assembly from 3-6 August. This gathering of Jesuit higher education institutions will be held at Boston College, seeking to bring universities together to advance the challenges of the future.

The event will be opened by the Superior General of the Society of Jesus, Fr Arturo Sosa SJ, as well as Joseph Christie SJ, president of IAJU, and the president of Boston College, Fr William P. Leahy SJ. Among the invited guests are also representatives of the Society of Jesus and the International Federation of Catholic Universities.

The programme of the event includes sessions on a variety of topics affecting universities: democracy, global citizenship, migration movements, reconciliation and peace, environmental sustainability, economic justice, and theology at Jesuit universities are some of them.

In addition to these common sessions, there will be group discussions on other issues such as the application of the encyclical Laudato Si' to universities, MAGIS exchanges, religious pluralism or good practices in Jesuit formation. There will also be space for the different IAJU regional associations to contribute their ideas on the direction and activities that IAJU should promote.
