Since the beginning of the Jesuit Networking Project, we have highlighted the work of our colleagues at the Ignatian Solidarity Network as a model of an Ignatian thematic network for justice that is working wonderfully as an interesting mix of on and offline activism, as well as through holding trainings and building an effective structure of multiplying agents found in staff members at high schools, universities, student leaders and those who are in charge of coordinating international immersion experiences.
Today we are writing about them because during these weeks they are carrying out a new campaign that could be an interesting model for the possibilities of networking in the Jesuit world. Our friends from the Ignatian Solidarity Network have written a letter for alums from Jesuit universities and schools across the United States, calling on Congress to act on immigration reform policy. The letter is being signed these days and will be sent to the 44 members of the U.S. House of Representatives who are Jesuit school alumni.
This is an interesting model of advocacy between Jesuit alums. Ignatian Solidarity Network invites us to become involved in a concrete action building on our common identity and the commitment to social justice that characterizes our alumni. Congratulations to ISN for this interesting and evocative campaign, which certainly highlights the possibilities of advocacy through our Jesuit networks.
