An exciting new Lenten experience has been launched by the Jesuits in the United States called Moved to Greater Love. This nine week digital prayer platform, based on both individual and communal experiences, offers the opportunity to engage more deeply in contemplative prayer throughout Lent.
This initiative started on Sunday, March 2nd and will continue until Sunday, May 4th. Each day, new content is posted online, including reflection questions, readings and multimedia presentations in order to guide your prayer experience.
From the Jesuit Networking perspective, this initiative is also exciting because this is the first time that a group of Provincials organize a digital call to prayer at a supra-provincial level, inviting all Jesuits and partners collaborating in Jesuit Ministries to join together as a network with spiritual objectives. As Father Thomas Smolich, S.J., President of the US Jesuit Conference, says, “The Society of Jesus is looking toward the future, and being rooted in prayer will help us to respond to God’s call more deeply and with greater spiritual freedom.”
Similar to other online prayer experiences promoted by the Society, such as Pray as you go, by the Jesuits in Britain, Rezando Voy, by the Spanish Jesuits, Sacred Space by the Irish Jesuits, and the 3 minute retreat by Loyola Press, this initiative does not only serve as an oasis in the middle of the day to grow in deeper relationship with God, but also links us with many other people around the world in an spiritual way.
If you are interested in participating in Moved to Greater Love, you can access the reflections online through the national US web of the Society of Jesus, where you can choose to “opt in” to receive daily emails with links to newly posted content. For more information, feel free to check out the FAQ and receive daily updates through the Facebook and Twitter pages of the US Jesuit Conference.
